    Kitchenesia.com - In the late sixties, a humble food stall was nestled by the Kuta road selling typical Balinese staple: fried rice, rice cakes, and unfiltered coffee.

    A table for two do not exist here, and we're going to have an Indonesian restaurant review for it.

    Tourists and locals, all joined together despite language barrier.

    50 years later, the small food stall has become a world-class restaurant with four branches in Bali alone.

    Here comes Made’s Warung, a legendary Balinese restaurant that is brought to Jakarta recently.

    Part restaurant, part bar, part live-music venue, Made's Warung at Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, elegantly defies pigeonholing.

    Despite all modernization, Made’s Warung still sticks to its Bali concept.

    Rattan chairs and solid-wood tables dominate the whole dining room.

    But the best part is that Made’s Warung’s elongated layout, making sunshine and wind from the outside circulate around the room.

    Sate lilit

    The best part of this sate lilit is that you can enjoy it as an appetizer, or making them a side dishes of a bowl of warm rice. Either way, sate lilit exudes the aroma of herbs with subtle smoky flavor.

    Nasi campur and ayam betutu

    It is legendary food which have made Made’s Warung today.

    Nasi campur consists of more than ten side dishes, creating harmonious blend of tastes.

    Nasi Ayam Betutu also goes the same route as its counterpart. It boosts numerous side dishes which will keep hunger pang away. Its chicken betutu is deep-flavored due to long cooking process. My personal favorite.

    Other food

    Made’s Warung also serves some non-Balinese food, such as Nasi Goreng a la Made.

    Ms. Made, the woman behind Made’s Warung, often cooked it as lunch box for her kids. Just like the old adage says: nothing beats mom’s cooking.

    Made’s Warung serves yummy desserts. Most of them are from the overseas.

    Pancake Pisang and Brownies Es Krim Stroberi are prefect desserts when sugar craving strikes. You can choose the ice cream flavor for chocolate brownie.

    Lastly, don’t forget to order green coconut to quench, healthy way to quench your thirst.

    Bali is Jakartan’s favorite place to escape from the city's bustle and noise traffic. But when time and other things prevent them to travel, Made's Warung can provide the nostalgia supplement for those who miss Bali, especially the food.
