Stir-Fried Beef with Spicy Sauce
Ingredients
300 grams tenderloin beef,cubed into 3x3x3 pieces
1 tomato, diced
1 lemongrass, crushed
5 lime leaves, midribs removed
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon white pepper powder
½ tablespoon brown palm sugar
1 tablespoon tamarind juicefrom 1 teaspoon tamarind dissolved in 2 tablespoon water
300 ml water
2 tablespoons cooking oilfor sautéing
ground spices blend:
5 cloves shallot
3 cloves garlic
½ teaspoon terasi (shrimp paste),fried
1 cm ginger
8 curly red chili peppers
3 large red chili peppers,deseeded
3 bird’s eye chili peppers
Cooking Steps
- Heat cooking oil on the pan. Saute ground spices blend, lemongrass, and lime leaves until fragrant.
- Add in beef. Stir until it changes colour. Add tomato. Stir it until softened.
- Add salt, white pepper, brown sugar, and tamarind juice. Stir well.
- Pour in water. Cook until the beef is well done and the sauce is reduced. Remove from heat.
