    Ingredients

    350 grams beef brisket,cut into pieces
    1,500 ml water
    2 salam (indonesian bay)leaves
    2 cm galangal,crushed
    2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
    4 teaspoons salt
    2 teaspoons sugar
    15 bilimbis, halved lengthwise

    spices blend (toasted and ground):
    3 large red chili peppers
    6 red bird’s eye chili peppers
    7 cloves shallot
    2 cloves garlic
    1 cm turmeric

    Cooking Steps

    1. Boil beef in 1500 ml water until tender. Remove beef from its broth. Cut it into bite-sized pieces. Strain the broth into clearer liquid. Add beef back into its broth and bring them to boil.
    2. Add spices blend, salam leaves, galangal, and bilimbis. Let it cooked until fragrant.
    3. Add in sweet soy sauce, salt, and sugar. Stir well. Cook it until the liquid is boiling and all ingredients are well-cooked. Remove it from heat.
    4. Pindang Daging (Spicy and Sour Beef Soup) is ready to serve.
