    Ingredients

    5 ready-to-eat rice cakes, cubed
    300 grams beef,diced
    1,000 ml beef stock
    2 lemongrass (white part only),crushed
    2 salam (indonesian bay)leaves
    200 grams tempeh,diced, fried
    150 grams young papaya,julienned
    2½ teaspoons salt
    ½ teaspoon white pepper powder
    ½ tablespoon sugar
    3 tablespoons cooking oilfor sautéing

    ground spices blend:
    7 cloves shallot
    3 cloves garlic
    3 candlenuts, toasted
    3 cm turmeric,toasted

    sides:
    noodles crackers
    2 tablespoons crispy shallotfor garnish

    Cooking Steps

    1. Bring water to boil. Add cubed beef. Cook it until tender. Remove it from water and reduce the broth into 500 ml. Set aside.
    2. Heat cooking oil on the pan. Sauté ground spices blend, lemongrass, and salam leaves until fragrant. Add beef and tempeh. Stir well. Add papaya. Stir well. Pour in beef stock gradually. Add salt and sugar. Cook until the liquid is absorbed into the solid ingredients.
    3. Pour in coconut milk gradually. Keep stirring it until all ingredients are well-cooked.
    4. Put rice cake on a bowl. Drench with soup.
    5. Kupat Glabed (Rice Cake with Beef Papaya Soup) is ready to serve.
