Roasted Pempek (fish cake) with catfish meat fillings, a new experience in eating pempek! - Calling for Pempek (fish cake) lovers! This Palembang-origin is undoubtedly for it is tasty and fulfilling. Unfortunately, pempek is sold in one version only: with mackerel!

Yields: 20 pieces


350 gram ground catfish meat

100 ml water

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 table spoon frying oil

2 egg white

200 gram sago flour

Ingredients for filling:

50 gram fried shrimp, boiled then ground

8 green chili, ground

3 tablespoon sweet soy sauce

Mix ingredients until tender

Cooking Steps

1. Mix catfish meat, water, salt, sugar, egg white, frying oil. Knead until smooth. Add sago flour while kneading.

2. Take a palm-sized dough and squeeze it until flat. Roast on an open flame. Flip dough until both side brown.

3. slice pempek, but don't make it into halves. Fill the dough with filling mix. Roast again until brown.
