Sayur Godog Tahu (Tofu & Vegetables Coconut Soup)
Ingredients
5 yardlong beans, cut into 3 cm strips
150 grams carrot,sliced
3 cabbage leaves, sliced
150 grams chayote squash,sliced
250 grams white chinese firm tofu,cubed
1 salam (indonesian bay)leaf
2 cm galangal,crushed
4 large green chili peppers,finely sliced diagonally
1,250 ml coconut milkfrom ½ coconut
2½ teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons brown palm sugar
2 tablespoons cooking oilfor sautéing
ground spices blend:
2 cloves garlic
6 cloves shallot
1 tablespoon terasi (shrimp paste),toasted
5 curly red chili peppers
2 large red chili peppers
3 candlenuts, toasted
Cooking Steps
- Heat cooking oil in the pan. Sauté ground spices blend, salam leaf, and galangal until fragrant.
- Add green chili peppers. Stir it until they are slightly softened.
- Pour in coconut milk. Cook it until boiling. Add yardlong beans, carrot, cabbage, chayote squash, and tofu. Cook it until the ingredients are slightly softened.
- Add in salt and brown palm sugar. Cook until boiling and all ingredients are cooked. Remove it from heat.
