Chinese Okra Clear Soup

Chinese okra or sponge gourd, also known as oyong in indonesia, is one of popular ingredients for vegetables clear soup. however, it can also be used to make other soups or stir-fry. for the first-timer, just try to make the simple chinese okra clear soup through the following recipe.

Chinese Okra Clear Soup

Ingredients

1 chinese okra, peeled,cut into bite-sized chunks
100 grams carrot,sliced diagonally
1 corn cob, cut into small cobs
1 tomato, cut into chunks
8 cloves shallot,sliced
3 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper powder
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
1 egg white, beaten
1,500 ml water
1 scallion, chopped
Cooking Steps

  1. Heat water in a saucepan. Boil shallot until fragrant. Add Chinese okra, carrot, and corn. Stir constantly until boiling.
  2. Add salt, sugar, and chicken bouillon powder. Stir well.
  3. Add in egg white. Stir it gently and continuously until the egg white forms ribbons. 
  4. Add scallion. Stir well.
  5. Chinese Okra Clear Soup is ready to serve.
