Cabbage shoots or cuciwis in indonesia is one of the favorite kinds of vegetables. not only that it tastes delicious, it is also easy to cook. the key of keeping the nice and crispy texture of this vegetable is to sauté it only for a short time; just like we do in this cabbage shoots stir-fry recipe. let's cook it at home!

Cabbage Shoots Stir-Fry

Ingredients

250 grams cabbage shoots,cleaned, halved
2 cloves garlic,finely chopped
1/2 onion, diced
1 red chili pepper, sliced diagonally
1 carrot, peeled,sliced diagonally
100 grams straw mushrooms,halved
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper powder
200 ml water
1/2 tablespoon cornstarchdissolved in 1 tablespoon water, for thickening
1 tablespoon cooking oilfor sautéing
Cooking Steps

  1. Heat cooking oil on the pan. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add chili pepper. Stir well.
  2. Add in carrot and mushroom. Stir well. Add cabbage shoots. Stir until slightly softened.
  3. Add oyster sauce, salt, and pepper powder. Stir well.
  4. Pour in water. Stir until boiling. Thicken it with cornstarch mixture. Stir it until the liquid is bubbling. Remove it from heat.
  5. Cabbage Shoots Stir-Fry is ready to serve.
