Stir-Fried Beef with Spicy Sauce

Ingredients

300 grams tenderloin beef,cubed into 3x3x3 pieces
1 tomato, diced
1 lemongrass, crushed
5 lime leaves, midribs removed
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon white pepper powder
½ tablespoon brown palm sugar
1 tablespoon tamarind juicefrom 1 teaspoon tamarind dissolved in 2 tablespoon water
300 ml water
2 tablespoons cooking oilfor sautéing

ground spices blend:
5 cloves shallot
3 cloves garlic
½ teaspoon terasi (shrimp paste),fried
1 cm ginger
8 curly red chili peppers
3 large red chili peppers,deseeded
3 bird’s eye chili peppers

Cooking Steps

  1. Heat cooking oil on the pan. Saute ground spices blend, lemongrass, and lime leaves until fragrant.
  2. Add in beef. Stir until it changes colour. Add tomato. Stir it until softened.
  3. Add salt, white pepper, brown sugar, and tamarind juice. Stir well.
  4. Pour in water. Cook until the beef is well done and the sauce is reduced. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir-Fried Beef with Spicy Sauce is ready to serve.
