Meatball Stew

Ingredients

meatball ingredients:
500 grams ground beef
200 grams grated coconut,toasted
2 eggs
2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
2 tablespoons cooking oil

ground spices blend:
1 teaspoon white pepper powder
4 cloves garlic
½ teaspoon nutmeg powder
½ teaspoon cinnamon powder

stew ingredients:
1 onion, roughly chopped
3 cloves garlic
2 cm galangal,crushed
2 salam (indonesian bay)leaves
2 red chili peppers,sliced diagonally
1 tomato, chopped
1,000 ml beef stock
100 ml sweet soy sauce
½ teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
10 cloves shallot,sliced, fried
4 tablespoons cooking oilfor sautéing

Cooking Steps

  1. Meatball: Mix well ground beef, ground spices blend, grated coconut, egg, shallot, sweet soy sauce, and cooking oil. Form it into small meatballs with your hand. Set it aside.
  2. Stew: Heat cooking oil on the pan. Saute onion, garlic, galangal, salam leaves, and chili pepper until it is fragrant. Add in tomato. Stir until all ingredients are softened. Pour in beef stock, sweet soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Stir it well.
  3. Add meatballs into the stew. Cook it until all ingredients are well done. Add in fried shallot. Mix well. Remove it from heat.
  4. Meatball Stew is ready to serve.
