Beef with Toasted Coconut
Ingredients
350 grams beef shank,cut into 2x2 cm cubes
2 salam (indonesian bay)leaves
1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon white pepper powder
½ teaspoon nutmeg powder
150 grams coarsely grated coconut,toasted, ground
750 ml water
2 tablespoons cooking oilfor sautéing
ground spices blend
3 large red chili peppers
5 cloves shallot
2 cloves garlic
4 candlenuts, toasted
Cooking Steps
- Heat cooking oil on the pan. Saute ground spices blend and salam leaves until fragrant. Add in beef. Stir until it changes color.
- Add sweet soy sauce, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir well.
- Pour in water. Cook until the liquid is reduced into half.
- Add toasted coconut. Cook over low heat until the beef is well done. Remove it from heat.
- Beef with Toasted Coconut is ready to serve.
