Pindang Daging (Spicy and Sour Beef Soup)
Ingredients
350 grams beef brisket,cut into pieces
1,500 ml water
2 salam (indonesian bay)leaves
2 cm galangal,crushed
2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
4 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
15 bilimbis, halved lengthwise
spices blend (toasted and ground):
3 large red chili peppers
6 red bird’s eye chili peppers
7 cloves shallot
2 cloves garlic
1 cm turmeric
Cooking Steps
- Boil beef in 1500 ml water until tender. Remove beef from its broth. Cut it into bite-sized pieces. Strain the broth into clearer liquid. Add beef back into its broth and bring them to boil.
- Add spices blend, salam leaves, galangal, and bilimbis. Let it cooked until fragrant.
- Add in sweet soy sauce, salt, and sugar. Stir well. Cook it until the liquid is boiling and all ingredients are well-cooked. Remove it from heat.
- Pindang Daging (Spicy and Sour Beef Soup) is ready to serve.
