Sop Janda (Beef and Chili Soup)

Ingredients

500 grams beef shank,cut into 2 x 2 cm cubes
20 whole green bird’s eyechili peppers
15 crushed green bird’s eyechili pepper
2,000 ml water
2 cloves
2 cm cinnamon
4 teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon white pepper powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 block beef bouillon powder

ground spices blend:
3 cloves garlic,fried
5 cloves shallot,fried

complements:
2 celery, finely chopped
2 scallions, finely chopped

Cooking Steps

  1. Boil beef, whole bird’s eye chili pepper, crushed bird’s eye chili pepper, cloves, and cinnamon until the beef is tender and the soup is fragrant.
  2. Add in salt, pepper, sugar, and beef bouillon powder block. Cook until all ingredients are well-cooked. Remove from heat. Serve it with its complements.
  3. Sop Janda (Beef and Chili Soup) is ready to serve.
