Sop Ikan Batam (Batamnese Fish Soup)
Ingredients
300 grams spanish mackerel fillet,sliced wide and diagonal
½ teaspoon lime juice
1,500 ml water
1 tablespoon ebi (dried shrimp),toasted, ground
2 tablespoons crispy shallot,crumbled
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon white pepper powder
100 grams pickled chinese mustard green,chopped
1 tablespoon fish sauce
3 green tomatoes, cut into small pieces
3 sprigs lemon basil leaves,picked from the stems
Cooking Steps
- Marinate Spanish mackerel with lime juice. Set it aside.
- Cook water, ebi, crispy shallot, salt, and pepper until boiling and fragrant.
- Add in Spanish mackerel. Cook until it changes colour. Add in pickles mustard green, fish sauce, and green tomatoes. Continue stirring it until cooked and boiling.
- Slightly before removing it from heat, add lemon basil. Stir well.
- Remove it for heat.
- Sop Ikan Batam (Batamnese Fish Soup) is ready to serve.
