Sambal Petis (Shrimp Paste and Chili Sauce)
Ingredients
4 large red chili peppers
1 red bird’s eye chili peppers
3 cloves garlic
25 grams fried peanuts
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
4 tablespoons petis(black shrimp paste)
1 teaspoon lime juice
2 teaspoons sweet soy sauce
75 ml water
Cooking Steps
1. Grind red chili peppers, bird’s eye chili peppers, garlic, peanuts, salt, and sugar on a mortar.
2. Add petis, blend it.
3. Add in lime juice and sweet soy sauce. Grind them well.
4. Pour in water and mix them thoroughly into smooth paste.
5. Sambal Petis (Shrimp Paste and Chili Sauce) is ready to serve.
